I grew up in the church but became an atheist at sixteen, and I no longer believe in the faith the cross represents. Yet it still carries an emotional weight for me. Its familiar shape stirs memories of childhood, ritual, community, and a sense of belonging I no longer possess. These images are not an expression of renewed belief, but an exploration of how religious iconography can remain intimate, or even sacred, long after faith itself has disappeared.
